My First UberX Drive

It was a night in Nashville like any other. I had just picked up a bag of goodies from the UberX driver orientation meeting. I sat in the parking lot for about an hour trying to make sense of it all. I felt like the first time I was going scuba diving and wondered what I got myself into. Maybe I should just go home for a few days. Naw, let's give this a try right now.

So, I finally I got my U setup and going. This was back in the glowing blue U days. I mounted the phone. And away I went.

My first ride was for someone in a not so good area of town. I wondered, uh, dang, I hope this isn't a drug deal or something. It turns out they were great. They just happened to have rented a house for a couple days off the Internet. They didn't realize it wasn't in a good area.

The ride was relatively non eventful. The passengers were very nice and friendly.

This ride did stick out in one respect though. One of them said, "Wow, you must be good. I've never had a 5.0 driver before! " I said something like, "Thank you, I work pretty hard".

Of course now that time and the reality of my rating have set in, I have never had that complement again. It was nice to at least hear once though.

And with that, I dropped them off at a restaurant or something. Then I drove off into the darkness of night to ride again.
